Abstract
Wernicke¡¯s aphasia is a language disorder that impacts the comprehension of written and spoken language. A 48-yr-old woman had developed a transient sensory aphasia without focal neurological deficit. Brain MRI showed no structural lesion, but 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) demonstrated glucose hypermetabolic activity in the left medial and superior temporal gyri, and middle frontal gyrus. Electroencephalogram (EEG) revealed spike discharges from the same area. We report a case of Wernicke¡¯s aphasia as an ictal phenomenon of temporal lobe epilepsy.
